About Jurong GRC

Introduction to Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC)

Jurong Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency located in the western area of Singapore. The GRC consists a large section of Jurong, sections of Bukit Batok and Upper Bukit Timah. The subdivisions of the GRC are Bukit Batok, Jurong Central, Taman Jurong and Yuhua. In the last General Election in 2006, Jurong GRC had a total of 116,636 electors. The People's Action Party has served the residents of the Jurong GRC since its creation in 2001. For the current term, the five Members of Parliament are Minister Lim Boon Heng serving Jurong Central, Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam serving Taman Jurong, Senior Minister of State Grace Fu serving Yuhua, Mdm Halimah Yacob serving Bukit Batok East and the late Dr Ong Chit Chung who served Bukit Batok. Since the demise of Dr Ong, the four MPs have been taking turns to attend to the needs of the residents in Bukit Batok.
