Interim Help for Residents

The Interim COping Package for Economic Downturn (I COPE) is a one-year pilot programme that was launched in January 2009 by South West Community Development Council (SWCDC)to provide interim financial assistance to those retrenched and unemployed residents in an economic downturn. We are pleased to inform residents that the successful programme has been extended.

Baby Bliss Card

Baby who resides in Jurong GRC, with at least one parent being a Citizen and born within one year of application will receive one Baby Blisscard - a specially-designed limited edition cashcard with a stored value of $38. Please click here for more info or download the application form.

Community Alert Service (CAS) By Jurong Police Division

Jurong Police Division is providing a free Community Alert Service to residents in Jurong Police Division jurisdiction. Upon subscription, the subscriber would be able to receive advisory/newsletter relating to crimes, safety and security issues concerning their neighbourhood and community.

More Bicycle Racks at Lakeside MRT Station

Some good news for residents using Lakeside MRT Station.....

DPM Tharman had conveyed to LTA our residents request for more bicycle racks at Lakeside MRT station. We are pleased to inform that LTA has agreed to install about 150 more bicycle racks, bringing the total number to about 215 when completed.

LTA will be calling for tender for bicycle racks for several MRT stations across the island together. LTA will work hard to expedite the implementation, expected to complete by early next year.

Upgrading of traffic light junction near Lakeside MRT station

Good news for our residents! In response to residents' feedback conveyed by our MPs, LTA has agreed to upgrade the traffic light junction near Lakeside MRT station, and recently, LTA has informed that it will be bringing forward the implementation schedule from 2nd Qtr to 1st Qtr of 2012.

A great leader and architect of Singapore left this world today.

FORMER Deputy Prime Minister and Singapore's economic architect Goh Keng Swee died early on Friday morning 14 May 2010 after a long illness. He was 91.

Our deepest gratitude to Dr Goh Keng Swee for all that he had done and achieved for Singapore and for the Jurong Community.

Our sincere condolences to his family.

When I went with my ex-CEO on

When I went with my ex-CEO on an oversea working trip some years back, we saw groups of people squatting at the road and we were told that these were people waiting for jobs. My CEO commented, "if it is not for our forefathers and the foresight of our leaders, I would probably be one of them". His comments lasted in my memory till today.

What Dr Goh had done for Singapore is remarkable. As a "beneficiary" of his contribution/achievement, I would like to express my condolences to his family and say a little prayer for him to rest in peace. I would also like to remind every Singaporean, including myself, not to take for granted, or become complacent, of what Singapore is today.
