Taman Jurong - One Heart, One Community

Dear Residents,

On our 45th National Day, we celebrate what is good about the nation we have built together. We also look forward to improvements that we can make.

Taman Jurong too has become a better place and a stronger community.  We can look forward to more facilities for both the young and old.

These include:

a) A Senior Activity Centre  where senior citizens can spend the day interacting, learning new things, and having their health needs looked into.

b)  A new, high quality and subsidised child-care centre.

c)  Jurong Lake Park is being beautified. A boardwalk, fishing deck and performance stage on the water will soon be open. It will be a wonderful place for recreation, community events and weddings. Come for the opening on Sept 25!

d)  Cycling tracks all around Taman Jurong, including to and from Lakeside MRT and the market/food centre.

e) The fully renovated Corporation Park will open soon, with new games courts and exercise equipment.

f) Indoor sports halls in our schools, which can be used by the community too.

We will continue to extend a warm helping hand to families in need, so that they can work and live with dignity. Free tuition for students, plus many bursaries and book prizes. A reading programme for pre-schoolers. A special health-screening programme for the elderly, run by NUS’ medical school together with our grassroots.  And more help for citizens who still need a job.

I encourage more residents to come forward and volunteer. Let’s keep building a strong community, where everyone cares!
